Danlola remains detained but refuses to surrender the symbolic yam, while Kongi pressures him through political manipulation and symbolic displays of power. Meanwhile Daodu, the nephew of the king, leads a dissident youth movement and is involved with Segi—who was once Kongi’s lover and now runs a bar. As tribal factions resist unification and Kongi attempts to force traditional uniforms on officials and stage grand ceremonies, tensions rise. On the day of the harvest festival, Kongi’s ambition is confronted by rebellion. In the climax, amid the harvest ceremony, the military rebels and Kongi is shot dead.
